magnificent example of Edwardian design, the Hotel is of considerable historic
importance to the North West. Originally built by the Midland Railway Company
in 1903, it is now a listed building. In 1904 it was the venue for the very first
meeting between the Honourable Charles Stewart Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce,
which led to the formation of a unique partnership and resulted in the formation
